(Program
Under Development)
This rugged mountainous country is home to the legendary
city of Kathmandu. Most of the people are Nepalese of
Indo-Aryan ancestry with many people from Tibetan ancestry
as well. Hinduism is the predominant religion.
Nepal
contains some of the most rugged mountainous terrain
in the world in the Himalayas, including Mount Everest.
As
a result of its years of geographic isolation,
it is one of the least-developed nations of the world.
Its market economy is mostly based on agriculture, and
it is a major producer of medicinal herbs, which grow
on the slopes of the Himalayas. The region developed
under early Buddhist influence, and dynastic rule dates
from c. 4th century AD. It was formed into a single
kingdom in 1769 and fought border wars with China, Tibet,
and British India in the 18th-19th century.
Its
independence was recognized by Britain in 1923. A new
constitution in 1990 restricted royal authority, stated
basic human and civil rights, and accepted a democratically
elected parliamentary government. In its national outreach,
it signed trade agreements with India in 1997.

Notice
We
are endeavoring to establish a network for adoptions
in Nepal. However, civil unrest continues and
our program is on hold until political matters resolve.
We are hopeful that this program will move forward in
the very near future. Contact
us to find out the latest information
on international adoption in Nepal.
There is a one time required donation of $1,000 to help offset the cost of Homecoming’s charitable efforts. |
