For
years, families have wondered what exactly motivates
the members of Homecoming Adoptions to work in international
adoptions. We have always answered those questions in
a private conversation, but we have never publicly issued
a Statement of Faith before 2004. While we accept families
of all faiths, we feel that prospective adoptive families
have a reasonable concern about what motivates us to
do our work.
We
believe that the plight of unwanted children is one
of the most critical issues facing our world today.
In some countries, entire generations are suffering
and dying due to neglect , financial ruin and political
upheaval that affects various countries. The true victims
in our society are the children because the do not have
an advocate for their needs. Faced with this issue,
we have endeavored to respond with compassion, excellence
and commitment.
In a word, we are Christians. We believe that Jesus
Christ was God's only Son who died on a cross to save
us from our sinful ways as lost children. Being fully
God, and at the same time, fully man, Jesus Christ died
for our sins so that we could be "adopted" into a loving
relationship with God the Father.
As
God has adopted us as His own children, we believe the
most important work we can do in this life is to help
adoptive families save the world; one child, one adoption
at a time.
We
do not share our faith for boasting or for any perceived
endorsement. Instead, we hope that our passion would
become your passion, whether Christian, Muslim, Jew
or agnostic. For every child that is brought into a
loving home is another opportunity to save our society.
We cannot idly sit by while our families and our futures
silently perish. Fame, prosperity and fortune will all
fade away in time. But the lasting work of giving a
little soul a second chance through international adoption
will endure for generations to come.
Believing that Faith without Works is dead, we also put our money where our mouth is. Some of Homecoming’s charitable efforts include complete fee waivers for people who wish to adopt children with “special needs,” awards of adoption grants to offset adoption costs, the funding an orphanage in its entirety in India, a country where Homecoming does not have an adoption program, and donations of food, medicine, clothes, and toys for children in other countries. Homecoming is also happy to help arrange for Mission Trips for individuals and/or groups that wish to spend time on location to help orphans and orphanages directly. This is not a small undertaking you are considering and you should know the who, what, when, where, and why of it. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
